After touring a facility where aluminum gas cylinders were being refurbished by employees in hazmat suits using chemicals to remove the paint, Dan knew there had to be a better way for both the workers and the environment. This was what started the idea for ROBO-STAT.

Soon after, Dan quit his job and with his wife Tammy created ROBO-STAT. Their son Chris decided to come work with them and their daughter Heather joined not long after to help in the office.

In the beginning, they solely focused on refurbishing cylinders using a patented "green" method. It wasn't long before they realized their customers also needed their cylinders requalified at the time of refurbishment. So they went and got certified to Hydro-test cylinders and started adding employees to help with the increasing business.
Along the way, certain customers needed in-house ways to tidy up certain cylinders and ROBO-STAT pulled through by creating machines for them that they now sell. Both a Cryo-Polisher and a larger Cylinder Washer were designed and quickly put to heavy use in factories.
